Thank you for applying for Wisteria work barter for Pre-Starwood, Wednesday 7/9/25 through and including Sunday 7/15/25. You do not need to come for this entire time, so if you can only make it here for part of it, feel free to apply.
Please DO NOT fill out an application for anyone but yourself! When you are finished, hit the Submit link at the bottom to send your application to us. Your application is not submitted until you hit this button and receive the “thank you” confirmation.
All fields marked with a * are required and must be filled out. After you have submitted your application, someone will contact you to let you know we have received it, and you will be contacted again if and when we schedule you. If you are filling out your application early, be aware that we may not contact you right away, but please plan on coming unless we tell you otherwise. If you see the “thank you” message after filling out your application, we have received it.
Pick your first, second, and third choice for departments (don’t choose the same thing twice). We’ll do our best to schedule you where you want, but we can make no guarantees. More information about departments is available in our work barter handbook.
First Aid shifts are typically 6 hours (6a-12p, 12p-6p, 6p-12a, 12a-6a), or 4 hours if we have enough staff. We try to make sure you get extra time off if you do night shifts or 6 hour shifts. First Aid and CPR certification are recommended (Red Cross offers classes). If you are an EMT, MD, RN, etc. your application will be given priority.
Security shifts are typically 6 hours (6a-12p, 12p-6p, 6p-12a, 12a-6a), or 4 hours if we have enough staff. We try to make sure you get extra time off if you do night shifts or 6 hour shifts. Priority for security will be given to experienced Wisteria work barter volunteers and others known to us. If it is your first time working with us, it is extremely unlikely you will be scheduled in security. You may be required to pass a background check.
Facilities may include trash and recycling, shower house cleaning, tiki torches, maintenance, and help with dishwashing in the kitchen. This is a physical job, and you will likely get dirty! Shifts are typically 4 hours or two 2 hour blocks, usually between 8am and midnight.
The gatehouse is usually open from 10am to 10pm, and gate shifts are typically 4 hours (10am-2pm, 2pm-6pm, and 6pm-10pm). This is a great job for a friendly “people person”. You should be familiar with using an iPad, and experience with Square Point of Sale is a plus.
Caffeina’s Coffee House is typically open from 7am to 11pm, and shifts are 4 hours (7am-11am, 11am-3pm, 3pm-7pm, 7pm-11pm). This is a great job for a friendly “people person”. You should be familiar with using an iPad, and experience with Square Point of Sale is a plus. Barista experience is also a plus.
Kitchen shifts are typically 4 hours, usually between 7am and 11pm (7am-11am, 11am-3pm, 3pm-7pm, 7pm-11pm). Priority will be given to those with kitchen experience. Cooks and dishwashers are always needed.
The Market is typically open from 10am to 6pm, and shifts are 4 hours (1am-2pm, 2pm-6pm). This is our least physically demanding department. You should be familiar with using an iPad, and experience with Square Point of Sale is a plus.
You must be 21 or older to work in Green Man Tavern (the bar). Hours are typically between 4pm to 1am, and shifts are 4 to 5 hours (4pm-8:30pm, 8:30pm-1am), but you may need to come a little early or stay a little late. This is a great job for a friendly “people person”. You should be familiar with using an iPad, and experience with Square Point of Sale is a plus. This is our most popular department, with an extremely limited number of positions.
Kids Village is usually open 9am-5pm, with 4 hour shifts (9am-1pm, 1pm-5pm). Kids Village work barter staff must pass a background check. Preference will be given to those with experience working with kids.
Setup and Teardown shifts occur before and after the event, but you will be off during the event itself. You must be able to arrive several days before and/or stay several days after the event. This is a physical job.
Fire Tribe slots are limited in number. Fire Tribe works both during the day (usually mid to late afternoon) and during evenings/nights. Evening/night shifts are usually 3 hours (9pm-12am, 12am-3am, and 3am-6am at larger events). We will do our best to make sure you participate in nightly Paw Paw fires, but you may be asked to manage other fires.
You must have a reliable vehicle with suitable large weatherproof cargo space (large car, SUV, van, or truck with bed cover). We will reimburse you for mileage. Town runs usually involve stores in Athens, about 30 minutes away. You may be asked to pick up from Kroger, Walmart, Lowes, Menards, or other stores. It’s usually one run a day, unless there’s an emergency. You must have a cell phone.
Please let us know what shift times you would prefer to work, and what shift times you do not want to work. Since different departments have slightly different schedules, your shifts may not exactly match up with the times listed. Pick the closest times to your desired shift. We sincerely appreciate everyone being as flexible as possible. If you are applying for Security or First Aid and want the night shift, make sure you pick both 12am-3am and 3am-6am, this is one shift.
We care about the safety of our attendees and staff, so we may need to do background checks to look for things like violent or predatory behavior. Background checks are required for all Kids Village work barter staff, and may be required for additional departments such as Security and First Aid. By selecting this, you consent to a background check. This information is confidential and will not be shared outside of the Wisteria Inc Board of Directors or Festival and Events Committee members. By selecting, you agree to a background check. If you have special circumstances or concerns, you can always contact us at workbarter@wisteria.org.
