To help environmental groups
get their message out, Wisteria Cornstalk is offering a limited
number of free table spaces for environmental groups and sustainable networks.
If you would like your non-profit group to be considered for
inclusion in the Green Village area, please write us at pam@wisteria.org.
Following are the main groups
who will be present at Wisteria Cornstalk 2008. Check back as
we add more groups. Thanks to all who are working and

OHIO
CITIZEN ACTION
Since 1975, Ohio Citizen
Actions campaigns have taken on some of the biggest polluters,
the largest energy companies, and the toughest local issues
and won. We know the power of grassroots organizing.
Its literally at the heart of everything we do and every
decision we make.
We believe polluters should
be held accountable, and weve helped to pioneer an effective
cutting-edge approach that organizes neighbors to be part of the
solution to corporate pollution.
Ohio Citizen Action has
devoted most of its resources over the past ten years to running and
winning good neighbor campaigns, which use the power of community
organizing to convince major industries to prevent pollution at their
facilities. These campaigns have won changes far beyond what federal
or state regulations would require at AK Steel (Middletown), Sunoco
Refinery (Toledo), Brush Wellman (Elmore), Lanxess Plastics
(Cincinnati), and many others.
Currently we are focused on
good neighbor campaigns at
Mittal Steel (Cleveland) and
Eramet Metals Refinery (Marietta); stopping the destructive practice
of mountaintop coal removal and killing the proposed new AMP Ohio
coal plant scheduled to be built in Meigs County.

Citizen Action can be found on our website,

Mountain Justice
is a group dedicated to direct action and public education about the
effects of coal mining and mountain top removal (MTR) on the
Appalachian people and land. Their main gathering, Mountain Justice
Summer (MJS) seeks to add to the growing anti-MTR citizens movement.
Specifically, the group demands an abolition of MTR, steep slope
strip mining and all other forms of surface mining for coal. We want
to protect the cultural and natural heritage of the Appalachia coal
fields. We want to contribute with grassroots organizing, public
education, nonviolent civil disobedience and other forms of citizen action.
Historically coal companies
have engaged in violence and property destruction when faced with
citizen opposition to their activities. MJS is committed to
nonviolence and will not be engaged in property destruction.
Some of their goals are To
raise world-wide awareness of Mountain Top Removal mining and its effects;
Escalate resistance to Mountain Top Removal from a regional to a
national level; Build our support base for the campaign; Unify and
strengthen regional groups fighting Mountain Top Removal; Mobilize
coordinated days of action using tactics ranging from public outreach
to civil resistance; Maintain safety as a high priority throughout
the summer; Debunk the myth of "clean coal" and "jobs
versus the environment"; Encourage conservation, efficiency,
solar and wind energy as alternatives to Mountain Top Removal and all
forms of surface mining. www.mountainjustice.org
Clean
Fuels Ohio. Clean Fuels Ohio (CFO) is a non-profit
organization, formed in January 2002 under the original name of
Central Ohio Clean fuels Coalition (COCFC).Our office is located at
3400 N. High St, Suite 430, in Columbus. Our mission is to increase
the use of cleaner American fuels and vehicles and energy-saving
transportation technologies (AFVTs) in order to improve air quality
and health, reduce climate change, curb dependence on imported
petroleum, and support Ohios economy. Clean American fuels
include biodiesel, natural gas, propane, ethanol, electricity, and
hydrogen. In 2002, the U.S. Department of Energy designated CFO as
the Clean Cities coalition for Central Ohio. We are proud of this
designation and it gives us unique access to DOE technical and
financial resources to develop AFVT projects. The DOE also gave an
award to the Coalition in 2002 for "one of the best (market
development) program plans ever received."
Clean Fuels Ohio is based in
Columbus and Ohios capital city serves as the hub of our
activities. However, as a result of our steady growth since 2002, we
increasingly have taken on a statewide leadership role in project
development, education and policy.
Clean Fuels Ohio's primary
goal is to develop public-private projects that deploy vehicles,
refueling equipment, and other technologies. These projects lead
directly to improved air quality, reduction in greenhouse gas
emissions, increased energy security and support for Ohios
economy. As part of this goal, Clean Fuels Ohio educates government
and private fleet decision-makers, operations and maintenance
personnel, teachers, students, public officials, the media and the
general public. Clean Fuels Ohio also supports government policies
that are consistent with our mission. www.cleanfuelsohio.org
