Details about Community Weekends

Community Weekends go from Friday night (unstructured arrival time after 3pm) to Sunday afternoon.  Feel free to drive in for Saturday only.  Free camping and some meals in return for efforts.  Pre-register at pam@wisteria.org so that we can plan for you.  Thanks!

Meals provided:  Saturdays: brunch and evening meal at dusk,  Sundays:  brunch  (Memorial Day weekend includes additional Sunday dinner and Monday brunch).  Please bring supplemental or specialized food, snacks and drinks for your stay.  Some vegetarian options.  Please let us know any food allergies.

Work-Exchange To attend Wisteria community weekends, a contribution of 2 work sessions is the minimum labor contribution for a full stay with overnight camping. There is no requirement to stay the entire weekend; all help is appreciated.

Facilities:  covered pavilion, showerhouse, swimming pond, water, portatiolets, ice and wood (for sale).

Bring: camping gear for your stay (including camp tables), medications and necessities, work clothes, paint clothes if you like painting projects, a good attitude and love of nature.

Rain Policy:  If the weather looks soggy for the weekend, call us to see if the weekend is a go or not.  We’ll try to make a decision by Friday afternoon – at the latest, Saturday morning by 10 am. 740 742 4351

Programming:  Part of the weekend experience is getting in shape after a long stiff winter.  Sometimes we’re mellow after a day of satisfying exertion and sometimes we like to do more active things after dinner.  Feel free to write or call us with ideas for group activities for Saturday evening.  The kids always appreciate a few structured events if you have something to offer them during your stay (counts as labor exchange)

Community Atmosphere: For a community to function well together, participants need to agree on responsible standards of behavior. Bring a helpful, loving and receptive attitude and you will probably be a welcome guest.

Specifically, we do not accept violence, meanness, lying/ stealing, moochers, bigotry and all those kinds of counterproductive behaviors. If your behavior is unacceptable to the group peace or if you violate campground rules, you will be asked to leave. No pets, sorry (some resident pets show up).

Everybody is responsible for their children – community does not mean dumping your kids on others.  We do not provide childcare.
